Most "virus" problems turn out to be one of a handful of things: adware bundled with a free download, a browser extension changing your search engine, a scam page that cannot be closed, or a genuine infection. They need different fixes, and telling them apart is the job. We look at what is actually running on the machine, explain what we find in plain terms, and remove what should not be there — with you watching the whole session.
- Adverts or pop-ups appearing over pages, or when no browser is open
- A full-screen warning telling you to call a phone number, which will not close
- Your homepage or search engine changed to something you did not choose

The work
What we actually do
With you watching the whole session, on a connection you can end at any moment.
Review what is installed, what starts with the machine and what is running now
Identify unwanted programs, browser extensions and scheduled tasks
Remove what should not be there and undo the settings it changed
Check the browser back to a clean, working state
Confirm your security software is present, enabled and updating
Tell you plainly how it most likely got there, so it does not happen again

What this will not do
- This is a remote service. The computer needs to switch on and reach the internet — if it will not boot, or the fault is hardware, we will say so rather than take it on.
- Ransomware that has already encrypted your files is a different problem. We can tell you what you are looking at, but no one can undo the encryption, and we will not pretend otherwise.
- If we believe a machine is too old or too badly affected to be worth the work, we will tell you that instead of charging you.
- If your bank or card details may have been exposed, contact your bank first. That is more urgent than the computer.
Cost
A free diagnosis, a fixed price, and an honest answer.
We will not ring you out of the blue to say something is wrong with your computer. Anyone who does is running a scam, whatever company name they give. You get in touch with us.
You find out what is actually wrong at no cost — including when the answer is that nothing needs doing, or that the machine is not worth repairing.
If there is work worth doing, we tell you the price before we start. It does not change afterwards, and nothing is charged if you decide not to go ahead.

How much does it cost?
The diagnosis costs nothing. Once we know what is wrong, we quote a fixed price for the fix and you decide. Nothing is charged and nothing is changed before you agree to it.
Do I have to sign up for anything?
No. There is no subscription, no multi-year plan and no product you have to buy. It is a single job at an agreed price.
Will you call me to tell me I have a virus?
Never. We do not cold-call and we will not phone you unprompted to say something is wrong with your computer. Anyone who does that is running a scam, whoever they claim to be. You contact us.
Can you guarantee my computer will be clean?
No one honestly can. We remove what we find and show you what we did. If something remains that we cannot resolve remotely, we will tell you and explain the options rather than keep charging.
Can you see my files during the session?
You can see everything we do on your screen for the whole session, and it ends the moment you close the app. We do not need your passwords and will not ask you to type them while we are connected.
